Gimme6

Gimme6 is a curriculum-based children's television program focusing on relationship building and problem solving among Cypriot youth. The show itself and its reception by audiences was carefully designed, monitored and evaluated by co-producers Common Ground Productions and Sesame Workshop. Featuring a dynamic cast composed of ethnic Greek, ethnic Turkish, African, Asian and English actors, the show was found to be a success among viewers during its broadcast in Cyprus in 2001-2002.

About Gimme6
Deep in the heart of London, six kids stumble upon a musty old children's theatre. There's Joe, the young runaway; Mia and Stavros, the visiting athletes; Tanaka, the street-smart native; Deniz, the disciplined scholar and musician; and Soner, the annoying younger cousin. As their friendship grows, so does their desire to restore the theatre to its former glory--but a pair of greedy developers have their own plans for the building. It's a story of international intrigue, personal pride and community spirit as the kids must learn to trust each other and work as a team in order to save the theatre.

Gimme6 was designed to promote awareness and understanding between Cypriot youth of different ethnic backgrounds. Characters are often forced to put down their preconceived notions--that girls can't play football, for instance, or that Turkish and Greek cultures are inimical to each other--in order to successfully solve the problems they face. Many scenes are shot in the characters' various native languages, showing the viewer that we all encounter the same fundamental issues.
